A Grand Rapids SEO specialist, serving national clients.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of web pages to search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. This process is aimed to gain top rankings for relevant search terms for the website. This is a great way to grow your target market, get your company’s name out in the public, and find new customers. I am very knowledgeable in SEO and am well equipped to boost your website to the top of Google.
As your Grand Rapids SEO Specialist, I have decided to show you what I can do by ranking my own website in the competitive web design field. Here were my results after optimizing my website for Kalamazoo (August, 2011 rankings):
What is on-page SEO and off-page SEO?
On-page SEO is defined as the optimization of a website’s content, text, tags, links and other elements. These are changes made directly on your website in the code to make your keywords the most visible to the search engines. Since a lot of it is “behind the scenes,” you may not even notice the changes made when viewing your website, but will definitely notice the boost in search engine ranking. Google generally takes about 90 days to fully place a website after On-Page SEO has been done to it. Read more about Website Optimization.
Off-page SEO is also known as link building. This is what gives you the top rankings in the Search Engine Results Page. Link building is accomplished by writing articles, press releases, social bookmarking, forum posts, reciprocal links, blog posts, classified listings, business listings, and directory submissions. Off-page SEO is a process that takes time. Search Engines like to see a slow “natural/organic” building of links pointing to your website over time. If you build links too quickly, your website may get flagged as spam and delisted from Search Engines entirely. It is a common misconception that it is a very simple and quick process to get your website listed at the top of Google. It is actually an extensive process, but can be one of the best business investments that you can make when hiring the correct SEO specialist! Read more about Link Building.
White Hat SEO vs Black Hat SEO
White Hat SEO is considered “best practice” and is a legitimate way of getting your site optimized for top rankings. These processes are approved by Google and other search engines and follow the “guidelines.” I only use White Hat SEO on my projects.
Black Hat SEO is considered “unethical” and consists of invisible text, keyword stuffing, link farming, spamming, and other techniques that degrade the relevancy and quality of Search Engine Results. Search Engines look for websites that try Black Hat SEO techniques and will remove them entirely from their search results.
Advantage of Search Engine Optimization:
The advantage of SEO is that you are reaching your target market and new potential customers. This is not only limited to your city, but can be worldwide if you have a national or international service/product!
